Season
Tonka Cheer consists of two consecutive seasons: sideline (fall) and competition (winter). The program runs from May through the middle of February. The team practices three times per week throughout the season.
- Sideline cheerleading (fall) involves cheering at Skippers varsity football games, performing at pep fests and homecoming activities. Sideline cheerleading is a Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) registered activity which serves to boost school spirit, promote good sportsmanship and develop positive crowd involvement.
- Competition cheer (winter) involves MHS representation in local, regional and national cheerleading competitions. The team traditionally travels to in-state and out-of-state camps and competitions, including the UCA Cheerleading Camp in Pennsylvania in August and the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Florida in February.
