Tonka Online (Supplemental)

Tonka Online is a supplemental online program at Minnetonka High School that provides students an engaging learning experience. All Tonka Online courses are taught by experienced Minnetonka teachers. In fact, most teach the same class both online and in a Minnetonka High School classroom. Each course is designed specifically for online learning and meets the highest quality curricular expectations of the Minnetonka School District. Teachers use familiar learning tools like Schoology and Google Tools for Education to deliver lessons and engage with students online. All courses are approved by the Minnesota Department of Education and NCAA.

Students choose to take Tonka Online courses for many reasons: to prepare for advanced curriculum, open their schedules for another course or elective, or to participate in a signature program like IB, Minnetonka Research, and VANTAGE. Tonka Online makes a personalized, four-year plan possible for many students.

In addition to meeting requirements and taking advantage of unique courses, students gain skills in online learning they will need for college, career and professional development. Because Minnetonka teachers are available to meet with students in-person to provide help, it’s really the best of both worlds for Minnetonka students.

With Tonka Online, you can:

  • Catch up or get more flexibility in the fall by completing required or preparatory courses
  • Leap ahead by taking a preparatory class or immerse yourself in a challenging AP course
  • Pursue electives that align with your passions or explore a whole new topic
  • Earn your PE or other required course credits flexibly so you can fit everything you want into your schedule
  • Ensure time for signature programs during junior and senior year
